The many, many weeks of madness and preparation are finally over. The presents have been bought and wrapped and the cupboards are bulging with food and drink. Here, at the darkest time of the year, it is time to sit back and relax and catch our breath and plan for the year ahead.
This year we didn’t have the granddaughter to take to the nearby organised display. We weren’t going to go but we ended up stood outside in our street and watched from there.
The six week summer holiday season is coming to an end and September is knocking on the door. There are little signs, subtle changes, that mark Autumn’s gradual approach. The endless summer evenings are a distant memory as nights start to draw in, darkness falling earlier now.
The first Saturday afternoon in May and people gather to greet Jack in the Green on Horfield Common. Jack arrives to welcome the Summer in and every year there are many more people waiting for him than before.
Spring has arrived today, and the sun has made a glorious appearance which means a busy time in the garden. There’s almost too much to do…
